From Distance to Destination: Our Story

Who we are

Two French students, united by a shared passion for creating positive change, currently living in London. Our story began on the last day of high school and what started as a brief encounter quickly blossomed into a strong relationship. Over time, our connection deepened as we got to know each other better, and together, we began working on projects that reflect our shared values and aspirations.

Thelma Deneef-Matthews, 19 years old, is studying Management at ESCP Business School as part of a European program. This year, she’s based in London, and next year, she’ll continue her studies in Madrid. Her experiences in different countries and cultures have shaped her innovative mindset and approach to business and problem-solving.

Hector Laine, 18 years old, is a Student Ambassador for firstminute Capital and the founder of Clean It, an international environmental initiative dedicated to fighting littering in the UK, France, and Tanzania. Awarded the Sustainable Engagement Award of 2025 by King’s Business School, his passion for sustainability fuels his commitment to building projects that leave a lasting impact on the environment and communities around the world.

Why EcoSeats?

EcoSeats was born out of a personal need: as a young couple facing the struggles of living in different countries, we sought to find an affordable and environmentally conscious way to stay connected.

What started as a challenge quickly became an opportunity—to rethink student travel and make it more accessible. Our goal is to help students explore the world or visit family and friends without breaking the bank or compromising on sustainability.
